Thomas Jefferson is representative of an increasing number of Black persons. Such individuals, Black Jeffersonians, are, like their role model, hypocritical, sinister, well educated, reprehensive toward the mass of Black People and convinced that they have the right to make personal gains at the expense of less fortunate persons of color. They have a Jeffersonian approach to Black Nationalism, to everyday Black individuals, and to persons who legitimately try to represent the interests of Black People. The Black Jeffersonians not only think they are superior to the Black crop, but distinct from it as well. In a manner of speaking, they are even more sinister than their unsuspecting mentor. After all, it was easy for Black People to identify an enemy like Mr. Jefferson, but the Black Jeffersonians look so much like every other Black person that they could pass for the real thing without being detected.
